And we're thinking, oh my gosh, your case would have been so much better if you had just never opened your mouth at all. And I always ask, I'm just curious, why did you do this? Why did you speak with them? Why did you say anything at all? The same answer comes up again and again and again. Look, they were really nice to me. I just figured one person to another, I could explain my way out of this. Well, I'm going to let you in on a secret. The police, their job is to make you feel comfortable so that you open your mouth and start talking about things that otherwise they would not know about. And I'm telling you, it is way worse if you speak about this because there's no benefit to be derived from you talking at all. So the lesson of the day is if you are charged if you are arrested, you don't say anything. Even if they sound like they are your best friend, you say, look, I would love to talk about it, but I can't. I have an attorney. I'll let my attorney do the talking. So don't say anything. Don't speak. Don't share your thoughts. Don't talk about what your plan was. Don't talk about what you thought you wanted to do. Instead, do this. Silence. Don't say anything at all. Give us a call.
